Compatible parts

Hello everyone,

New Avalon owner here, just got a 1999 Avalon XL for an awesome price...free! The catch is that it had a right front collision which I have to fix. Fender, hood, bumper, axle, some suspension parts that busted and having a shop stretch out the frame a bit since it was slightly bent on that corner. I can try to bang it out myself, but things will just never align properly after that.

Anyway, question I had for you all, do you know if all the front suspension components is the same across the board for all the 1st gen Avalons?

Thanks in advance for all your answers.

They should all be compatible, and also some parts are the same with the Gen3-4 camry and Gen3 ES300, iirc.

For the body parts, make sure you order 98-99, but suspension components should be same.

Body parts are different pre-98? I checked them both out and noticed the bumper was different but the hood and fender differ too?

From 95-97 the Avalon looked like this:

and the back:

Then in 1998 the avalon received a refresh, that consisted of new headlights, corner lights, taillights, front and rear bumper, trunk, grille and redesigned side molding.

Hopefully I haven't confused you, lol.

Damn it! That sucks, I just found a 1997 Avalon that's being parted out...oh well, the hunt for body parts continues.

to the forum!

I see you're from Tampa, which is just across the bay from me. It's always nice to have some locals here on the forum.

Yup, New Port Richey. Actually got 3 Toyota's in total:

1990 Celica ST
1991 MR2 NA
1999 Avalon XL

The MR2 is my per project, got all sorts of plans for it and a bunch of parts in my garage that are waiting to go on there.

The Celica is actually going away. Giving it to a buddy of mine that's in Afghanistan and has no car when he gets back to the states. His brother crashed his Avalon and he now needs a car so I figured I'll give him the Celica.

And the Avalon is the crashed Avalon from above LOL.

Always nice to see some local people on forums and thanks for the welcoming.

I was under the impression that of the innerworkings of the first generation avalon are the same. However to my dismay, after buying a used trailing arm from a 98 avalon, it was not the same length as the trailing arm on my 96 avalon.

Error in the parts transaction? Who knows, all I know I have a nice OEM 98 trailing arm sitting on my bench if anyone wants it

95/96 avalons have different suspension components than the 97-99. the 97-99 essentially use the 97-01 camry and 99-03 camry and the 95/96 use the 92-96 camry. i guess you can use the 97 fender itll just look weird. the 97 is the middle year of the 1st gen avalon. it's got all the updated stuff on the 98 and 99 but kept the 95/96 body.

jiggs i actually need a passenger side trailing arm! i'm parting out a 95 xls. wanna trade or get some parts lol. im localll!
