Sorry, but that's not a diagnosis. It may be a list of symptoms, but it's not in standard English. The phrases do not make sense.

Was the car manufactured for Nigeria, North America, or some other part of the world?

Toyota Avalon 1999 Model Diagnose Report Help Needed

The Toyota Avalon is For North America Standard. The Diagnosing machine reported two problem 1: Knock Sensor and the second one was the one i posted. I have change the Knock Sensor and there's an improvement in the car performance. The problem with the car now is that it consume to much FUEL. I dont know if there's any component in the car that need to be change. What's the work of the ECU?

Thanks TedL for your reply.

ECU is the main engine control computer. Is there a five character (one letter, four numerals, like P0599) code being reported?

I did not really take note if there's something like that. Except the one i posted hear 053 for by other statement.

But what do you think can be causing black smoke and fuel consumption?
Where can i locate the ECU?

Thanks for your time.

ECU (ECM) is behind the glove box.

Too much fuel injected causes the two problems. One of many possible causes is bad ECT (engine coolant temperature) circuit, including wiring and sensor and connections. Valid codes would help identify cause. The code you give is not a valid code for '96 and later US vehicles...it simply does not have enough characters to have meaning.

Virtually all information contained in the factory service manual for the 99 Camry 6 cylinder, available for free at camrystuff.com, is the same for an Avalon.

Good luck.
