1996 avalon rack
I just installed a new rack and pinion on my 1996 Toyota Avalon. The information that came with the rack stated that it had been pre-centered by the factory. It wasn't until I had completed everything that I found out how untrue that was and now after an alignment my steering wheel is roughly 180 degrees off. Is there an easier way of fixing this, possibly by removing the steering wheel and clockspring and rotating the rack to center it then adjust the tie rod ends to bring the tires back close to alignment and then finish up with a real alignment or is it true that the only way to fix this is to disconnect the rack again?
