Timing Belt Deal !!! Suggestions?

We just received a coupon form our local toyota dealer. The are offering a complimentary timing belt change including water pump, seals and gaskets. You only play labor. I gave their Service Department a call, and was told that it would cost $340 for everything. Just noticed, there is also a 15% discount on major services, so it will bring down the price to $289. This is a really good deal. I am going to talk to my dad once he gets home and see what he says.

Thanks

Are you sure you can use that 15% off coupon in conjuction with this service?

If so, if it is $289 for PARTS AND LABOR to do a T/belt job including pump, seals, that isn't a bad deal. Now, be careful of the upsell items. If they ask you to pay for drive belts, just the parts shouldn't be any additional labor, that is legitamte, but be careful of anything else.

I called them back, and the said yes I could use that coupon with the Timing Belt Change. The drive belts are fairly new, replaced a couple months ago. I doubt the would charge extra labor to remove the belts, because its part of the procedure. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also called my dad and he said ok. We will take it in tomorrow morning if we have time. I will not have them do anything else, because I know how much labor charges are.

Sounds like a heak of a deal. Great price if it Includes Parts and Labor.

Don't think you can go wrong with that price.

Good luck

Thanks. I called another local dealer with the same deal, free timing belt with timing belt service. When I asked how much, $885 , no thanks.

About the addditional 15% off discount, the service advisor said yes it can be applied to this service, but when I looked at the fine print under the timing belt coupon, it said "Coupons cannot be combined with any other offer or special and cannot be applied to special services." The 15% Super Saver Coupon says "can be used on any service or repair". I hoping the service advisor and 15% coupon is right.

I called them again to clarify and it turns out the service advisor was wrong. New Price: $835 I am just going to change it myself, can't be that hard.

As always. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Wonder what would have happened if you had them do it and then they say "sorry for the misunderstanding" and then hand you the $800 bill.
