so my registration was suspended for 90 days, i started her up about every other day, and turned the wheel lock to lock a few times, and backed in and out of the driveway... the last few days when i start it i hear this wierd hum, kinda grindy noise... i pop the hood n it sound like its smthn near the PS pump... i do need new belts, the noise gets louder when i turn the wheel, more so when i turn it left... is this just a noise that will go away after a cpl days of driving, or should i be worried?? it almost sounds like a loose metal piece rattling somewhat...
Are your fluids to their appropriate levels? Not having enough hydraulic fluid in that pump will cause it to make a whining, almost futuristic noise, especially when the wheels are being steered.

Good to hear, you should think of trying Valvoline Max Life Synthetic Blend. Yesterday I sucked out all the fluid from the reservoir and filled it with Max Life. Everything went well, except for the fact that I dropped the suction hose into the reservoir.

I would assume that your synthetic blend is thinner? What advntages would this provide? I suppose you would have better lower operating tempratures, but thats negligable once the fluid warms up. Longer life, but how often do you have to change PS fluid anyway? The pump may become more efficent, but I doubt any modifications to the PS system besides removal noticeably effect fuel economy. Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious. I had a leak in mine and i crammed it full of pseudo gear oil.. I mean lucas stop leak, and have been using it without a problem for nearly 2 years.

Well, it has 20% addivites, like seal conditioners, and as you said long life friction modifiers and cleaning additives. I just used it because I had left over bottles.
I got it out with a paper clip and a vice grip. The fail part, was I had to replace the return hose because I shredded it into pieces trying to take it off.
I guess I'm just having bad luck, because someone hit my front bumper at school.:he adbang:
Guess you got to bust out the factory spray paint cans! But that sucks, the surroundings of the scraped area look mint. But it could've been worse! I'm going to guess that its an OEM bumper. The last time someone "tapped" my car, my bumper shattered into pieces. Mmm.. aftermarket.
I hate parking lots, I always park further away and just put up having to walk the extra distance for the peace of mind.
And if it makes you feel better, I just had an IDOT salt truck roar past my car not even 30 minutes ago, spreading rock salt all over it. I felt the clear coat cry!

I showed my parents, and they said to just get it repainted. Yeah its oem, car has never been in a accident. I just don't know how it got hit in that area, they way and position that I was parked, it seems just impossible. Oh well, knowing how the kids at my school drive, it probably is. I am not mad or anything, the paint on the bumper has seen better days, my dad a couple years back bumped into the garage door and right side of the bumper and the paint got scratched and cracked. I already got my friend to ask how much it probably will cost, from the people that painted his front end. $100 is his guess, doesn't seem bad. The silver molding is scratched up on both sides know, debating whether its worth the $65 dollar replacement from the dealer. Took some rubbing compound to it, looks less noticeable and the surface scratches are gone.
Maybe it would be a good idea to invest in a bumper cover during the winter months.
