proper procedure for coolant flush

could use some advice, guys. Am fighting terminal cancer and am on morphine so brain not working that good. Still got a little energy left; think if i go slow i can do this job. Put in prestone 5 yr/150k miles ext. life coolant 2 years ago. Getting ready to sell car to my uncle and I am getting concerned when reading posts about how prestone has silicates that may affect water pump and it's seal. Got the $28 ext. life Toyota pink coolant with the phosphates (good for water pump). Here is how I was planning on flushing the cooling system. Get car nice and hot and drive up on my ramps. let cool down somewhat. Drain radiator petcock. Drain engine block drains (hopefully will find rear block drain this time).
Fill with distilled water.
Start car, get it hot, put heater fan on high.
Drain system. do this 3 times or so.
Last time, just drain rad. petcock and leave block drains alone.
Fill with !00% full-strength pink ext. life coolant.
Check with hydrometer and monitor for next week or so.
Does this sound correct?
Only thing i can think of is some guys like to take out the t-stat and reassemble the t-stat housing without the t-stat? Does this let more old coolant come out? Wouldn't hurt to throw a new t-stat in there with new fel-pro o-ring like napa illustration shows.
I have also heard of some guys taking off the lower radiator hose and just directing it into a drain pan to get additonal coolant out?
It will be up on ramps in garage so I can't be directing a garden hose into the lower rad. hose or nothing-make too much of a mess.
Thanks for any words of wisdom on this.

Once you loosen the drain petcock and let all coolant drain out. Then fill with distilled water and let it run through the system, with the temperature on heat side. Make sure you flush all the old fluid out. If you have a Milk Jug, or even a empty coolant bottle. Fill 1/2 with distilled water and 1/2 with LL Coolant.
