traction control?

my son has a 98 avy xls and there's a traction control button on the dash. while test driving his vehicle the other day, i was trying to see whether the button was working since i didn't see any dash light showing it was or wasn't.

there's no owners manual for this vehicle so i'm lost. any input would be appreciated. thanks

I'm not sure but you gotta check up fuse box for TCS. Also you can find out driver's manual on the internet.

happy new year!

just checked my 98 xls tonight and when the traction control button is pushed turning the traction control off, there is an amber light lower right hand side of instrument cluster which displays trac off. There is two skids which illuminate in amber when the traction control is engaged.

I don't remember where the fuse was but remember there is a fuse box under the dash and also one under the hood.

thanks fourwheeler...

the avalon i'm dealing with belongs to my son. he's home from school for the holiday so we had a bunch of front suspension work done (struts, coils, sway bar links/bushings) so i'm wondering if something happened during this work that disabled his traction control.

when i was driving his car home from the repair shop, i became curious with the traction control button on the dash. so, i pushed it a couple of times and did not notice any lights come on or off on the instrument panel (yes, i was looking in the right place). i can't be sure whether the traction control was working BEFORE the front suspension repairs were made.

at this point, without having the car to look at, i don't know if he's simply dealing with a blown fuse or its something more costly. as i have already pointed out, the car didn't come with a owners manual and i really didn't want to shell out any more money to buy one at this time. i'm hoping to be able to find the fuse box with a labeling diagram that will enable me to find a traction control fuse. i've gotta believe the fuse box is under the dash....not under the hood.

any helpful hints about this problem would be greatly appreciated.
