Easy fog light solution

So, after a few foggy mornings I decided it was time to install more lights on my car.

I removed my old junky drving lights, and replaced them with some new amber output fog beams.

But, the beautiful part was the mounting situation. While I orrignially was planning to remove the front bumper to do a nice job on the installation. (I also planned cutting into said bumper) I decided to take another look under the car.

what I found were some holes that were originally to attach the bumper cover too, but clips have been missing for quite some time. So I had an idea, to use that for mounting my lights. Turns out a 3/8th bolt fits nicely. Beginning with a light hammer tap to drive the bolt into the hole, then using a 9/16th (or 14mm) ratchet to poorly cut some threads into the aluminum(?) bumper.

Another crappy picture, and awful perspective:

I then removed the bolt, and applied some threadlocker to it so it would situate itself in the hole a little better. Thought about a lock washer, but shifted the bolt too low for my lights.

The only bummer using these holes was I had to cut into the rearside of the bumper to allow clearence for my choice of lamps. This was easily done with a knife heated by propane/mapp gas.

The fit turned out perfect, and I got pretty lucky with the clearence with the license plate.

Nice, I love the fog lights I just put in myself. Glad to see you still working on your Avalon

Yes, as soon as I found those holes and a nearby 3/8th bolt, I immediately thought I should share my findings.

The computer I have in my car for multimedia keeps my hands full for work. I dont think you can ask for a more noisy electrical environment
