stereo system

I have a '99 avalon recently in a accident which totaled the car front and rear driver side fenders hit from a guy running a red light on me. But I am fixing the car b/c I love it and can not let it go

So with the insurance money, I want to replace my stereo system since my cd and tape player is busted before the accident. How do I know which fits my car? the dimensions?

All the first generation Avalons have double din radio styles to my knowledge. Use http://www.crutchfield.com/

I also might add: 95 radio install step by step

My Avalon has a single DIN head unit with a plastic bin-thingy below it. So I think you can go with either double or single DIN.

FYI: If you order a single DIN-sized head unit from Crutchfield they include a bin with your order, for free. And they throw in all the electrical adaptors for free too. Makes installation a breeze. I highly recommend Crutchfield; they're hard to beat for customer service.
