P0136 Rear O2 Sensor

Hi, I diagnosed this code with a scanner on my 1997 Avalon. I am not a mechanic by any means, so is this a part I can easily replace or is it hard to get to? I see that the part is available online.

Thanks,
Rob

P0136 is Bank 1 Sensor 2 which means that it is after the cat, so It will be on the Pipe itself in back of the engine.

I would need the year to get you a price and a better idea of where it goes.

Replaced my downstream o2 sensor with a simulator (many pics)

http://www.discounto2sensor.com/stor...967124&PN=2219

this aint gonna be fun as the... "massive intellects" at toyota have made your car so that it is necessary to remove the passenger's seat, peel carpet back and all kinds of other grief to replace the sensor. DO NOT buy the universal o2 sensor - it won't work. it may not be the sensor, at all. may be the cat. then the misery really begins!

ya see, the 97s had a platinum cat. they don't make those anymore and you couldn't afford one, if they did. now they (the affordable aftermarket cats) are made from palladium. the new ones don't work quite as well. the toyota computer is sensitive enough to tell the difference, in many instances.

best you go with the emulator in the first link i posted... a lot less grief. just leave the 2 black wires connected to the heater in your current o2 sensor - that way you won't have to go through all the stuff that guy did, with resistors and all.
