Gen1 L.e.d. light strip and angel eye project

Well my situation is this...I live in illinois like most of the respectful avy posters just 20 miles west of rockford. and my dilemma is this...i was once 1 of 6 people driving around with H.I.D.'s and through the past year ive noticed more and more but recently i know it may sound stalkerish a lil bit but thats not it at all...i recorded down the cars ive been seeing in my town with of course hids. ive recorded 34 not including me or the other original 5. its rediculous. i feel as if im another retard with blue lights. and thats not the case at all. I dont want to be like everyone else..take for instance Jigg007... his avy is decked out in a masquerade of heavenly colors thats set aside from everyone else.

So iv'e decided to take on the project of adding angel eyes and it wouldnt be perfect if it wasnt met with a side gleam of led strip lights (courtesy of an old post i saw from Jigg007).

So my basic question is how do you wire the angel eyes and led strip light. can you straight wire them to the parking light without a power source?? if so which one do i need and so forth. because i want them to come on with the parking light. so ill post the links to the website ive been using for years and please give me feedback or what i need to order and do because im coming to you guys for help and this is the place where i think i can get in depth help.

pm me or comment

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...-flexible.html

which ones are better to get? i was wanting to get the flb 30 series

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...tubes.htm%23ae

im just getting the blue angel eyes not the rgb's because theres no point and so could i wire these two things straight to the parking light wire?? please help

its a 95 avy xls btw

Those FLB30 LEDs would work, but not for too long because they're not waterproof. you could use them if you covered them in epoxy or silicone, but you're better off owning the waterproof series, the only thing I notice is the length is most likely too long for you.

The angel eyes stay they work on 12 volt operation so you should be fine. But you're going to have problems mounting them inside the headlights. because they are not flat inside. But some interesting glue configurations might solve that..

ok well in your opinion jigg, would you get the waterproof light bar or the waterproof side emitting led light strip? well with those strips and bars i can cut them in to segments so i need most of the length but not all of it.

so with the angel eyes and light bar or led strip, can i wire both into the parking light?

well i'm buying the casings for the angel eyes and they're round so i can just glue the casings with the lights inside of them and put them right over the light bulb housings.

Are probably your best bet. They look flexible in any direction too, while the others looked like they can only flex in one direction. 9 or 18" length.

And when sparse on details, this strip is labeled as '12VDC- Sutible for automobile use', which would mean they operate on 9-15vdc (I would guess)

While they have other, '12VDC - Not-sutible for automobile use', which means they need straight 12VDC, anything over and they might cook.

On another note, because the module is "rectangular" it would be easier to mount than a flat strip. ie, you can glue it to its side or back.

It depends where you're going to install them. These, in my opinion would only work if installed inside the headlight, or in the bumper's lower grille. The gap between the hood and the headlight is too small to allow something like this to fit on-top of the headlights, something I commonly see around Chicago.

would be better selection for the latter sugestion. I suppose they would also work, but are more expensive and most likely not as bright.

i think it's harder to find regular halogens in some parts of chicago now lol. the led strip is done everywhere over here so i'm sure theres info. I'd like to see how this gets done because i actually was planning to retrofit q45 projectors in 98/99 headlight housings =]

its nice to see another illinois avalon!

Gen1 lights are in just not in lol

alright well i got my lights in yesterday and i have been working my butt off at work so i havent been able to work on the lights. but as soon as i do i will post pictures...hoping everything goes well.

first i gotta pull off the original wiring for the angel eyes cuz it was cheap thin wire that i accidently pulled off lol...so more soldering here i come :p

oh one question, what is a good super glue or an adhesive that i can use inside the headlight that will take on high heat dispense from the 10k h.i.d.s. i have?

Thanks for the feedback guys and any more to come.

10k? Hello coppers!

Depends what you need exactly. Use JB-Kwik Epoxy. it can be applied as a paste and it will make an almost unbreakable bond. Good to use if you have a lot of gaps or have to work against gravity while applying.

Or I use a lot of 3M Plastic/Metal Emblem Adhesive, a more viscous liquid, sets in 30 minutes. I used this for 90% of my LED projects. You'll pass out on this stuff, make sure you have some ventillation

My last glue I used was Devcon Weldit brand, but it was too runny for my applications, If you have flat surfaces, it would work great.

I have my stock 95 headlamps. I wanted the 98/99 but no junkyard within 100 miles of me has a avy of that year and the place out in rockford that sells them hiked up their prices since the Japan tsunami. Each new headlights was 74 dollars but since the tsunami they are now 150. I was like wtf?!?! Lol so I decided to go the super cheap route and spend 40 bucks on a headlight kit and extra sandpaper and scrubbed both lights for almost 2 hours and for the most part I can see right through them. Other than the awkward design of the moldings in the 95 avy that I hate ha

haha damn man $74 is CHEAP! i live in northern va and havent got around to going to any junk yards but that should be the first thing i do. and yea the stupid housings on them haha i have used the 3M headlight restoration twice on it and then i sprayed them with clear coat to keep them from hazing up and what not...read that on a cadillac forum and it has actually worked! tape it off and spray...easy way to keep them clear! im running 5k hids and the cut offs are trash and the light projectory is horrible, especially compared to my friends 2010 tundra lol
