The e153 was used on the 93-ish mr2 turbo, which came stock with a LSD, it has been well known as being the best manual trans for most toyota engines(excluding the gr engines). I have heard from MANY about it's ability to hold a LOT of horsepower(400+).
So, is the LSD worth the $1000 or so it would cost? Probably not for the avy(unless you are building a turbo sleeper or something).
Would it fit in the auto trans currently in it? Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it.
Do you really want to remove the luxury idea of the auto transmission from the Avalon? I surely don't, it's a great daily driver, but it will never be able to fight with the big dogs due to it's weight/size.

I don't have illusions of making a dragster of the Avalon. If I want a dragster I'll get a 60s Dodge. Been there, done that, and re-runs are sooo booring.
This car - nobody knows what it is - lol. When people get in it they say WOW! What IS this? A Toyota, I reply
I seldom break traction. When I do the engine shuts off and the stupid warning light blinks. I wish there was a permanent way to turn that traction control off. It will get me killed one day. If I slip just a little as I leave a stop (like when entering traffic) the car dies out. Haven't been hit yet but one simply must wonder about the Japanese idea of "safety."
I was just thinking if posi was an option, and if it was easy to install, I might find it in a junk yard somewhere.
Oh well - thanks for the replies
