Rear brake corrosion?
Hello all!
I was hoping to receive some guidance regarding the rear disc brakes on my '99 Avalon XL.
When we bought the car 3 years ago, the rear rotors were severely corroded, so much so that they had to be trashed and replaced with new ones.
Even though the car is driven daily, the rear rotors continue to corrode badly, as if the rear calipers are not exerting enough pressure on the rotors to scrub off any rust. If I ever have to slam on the brakes, I can hear the pads rub on the rotors (loudly, sounds like someone is turning rotors in a shop).
So, there is some pressure getting back there, but I don't think it's enough. Is there some sort of proportioning valve on the 95-99 Avalon the may need adjusted? I can't find anything on it in the manual or on searching this site.
Is it possible with age of this car that it may just need a total rebuild (ie: rear brake hoses, calipers, rotors, and pads).
Thank you,
Denny
