I think that is the SRS(Air Bag) module.

Yeah I can second that, I know theres an SRS module somewhere in the center console. (I thought it was under the armrest/storage bin)

+1 if there are any yellow plugs or wire looms, thats a dead giveaway if its Airbag related. Proceed with caution!
