Getting ready to do a big tune up!

Just bought a 96' Avalon. Engine has 243,000 on it. Valve covers are leaking like crazy, timing belt has never been replaced, and all the fluids are dirty.

I got the majority of the parts already. I will be tackling this project threw out the rest of the week.

List:
Valve cover gaskets
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Spark Plugs
Plenum gaskets
PCV valve
Power steering flush
Brake flush
Transmission drain and refill
Coolant Flush
Rear shocks
Air filter
Throttle body clean
Fuel Injector cleaning

I'll be taking pictures the whole way and doing a small write up in case anyone needs one.

Trans and diff do take the same fluid, just different sections of the transmission.

I use the power steering fluid Toyota supply's, not dextron.

Did I mention that I work at a Toyota?

Holy, so I have possibly 12 year old fluid in the diff.

I just read what was on the PS reservoir cap used that fluid.

Aha, so thats why, ZAK FI Cleaner is what came with the Toyota 30k service on the Sienna we were working on.

Same fill point though, right? That is, when you fill the trans, fluid spills over into the differential.

Have you ever wondered why you preform a drain and refill and the fluid is still dark?

Toyota's can use Dextron III, there are a few guys running it. How ever I'm gonna stick with the Zak fluids..

We use a lot of Zak products and I haven't been disappointed in one yet.

Yes sir! It took a little under 3.5 quarts for a drain and refill on my trans. I did it today, and man was it black.. Will be doing it again once a week for the next month or two.

I dropped the past last week and it was cherry red, I done about 6 drain and refills in the past year.
Shifts just as smooth as the 07.

I'm talking front wheel drive where the differential has its own drain but does not have its own fill, at least that is the way my 99 Avy is.
