Gen1 Blower Motor Resistor

Can some one please give a little more detail on where the location of the blower motor resistor is? I have a 98 Avy, pictures would also be amazing.

Depends, is it automatic climate control, or manual? Manual has three dials, automatic has a dial (thermostat) and a bunch of push buttons.

Because I believe that the automatic does not have a blower resistor, and instead it uses PWM to control the blower motor. +1 your blower motor might be bad, take a voltmeter to it.

If it is manual controls, then heres a diagram, but I've never seen the system except for my blower motor so I really cant decipher this.

This is the module with the blower motor, as seen right behind the passenger glovebox.

And looks like that module mentioned above is the one in the middle of this diagram, behind part 11, and below 10. The blower resistor, if you have it, is part 8.

No, part number 8 is the blower resistor.

These picture are not from the Avalon, but they will give you an idea what you're looking for.

Lexota98, did you fix this problem? I ask because I also have a 98 with automatic temperature control and am having the same problem. If you would please advise the solution (does the automatic have a blower resistor??), i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
