USA 98 avalon xls - outside temperature gauge & bracket

When all of a sudden no "numbers" appeared on the instrument panel for the outside temp, I noted the small black "canister" and bracket had "disappeared" from under the passenger side by the radiator. The large snowfall of this past winter must have rusted it away. Only two wires in a long plastic tube still exist. Has anyone replaced these 2 parts and was it a difficult DIY job or do I have to get a Toyota dealership involved ? Where can I get the 2 part numbers if I want to buy them and "install" them myself ? Any good parts suppliers on the web to contact ? I'm a newbie here and appreciate any help and advice. Thanks.

Yeah, I think that is the temperature sensor. Can you take a picture of what exactly you are talking about?

Rockauto.com has them for $77. I have 5% discount code you are welcome to use. Rockauto told me they didn't care how many people or with whom I shared it with. Look under heating/cooling, ambient air temperature sensor, exterior.

PM me if you want the code.
