Broken pivot bolt on alternator

It sure looks to me like mine's broken. It's not there, but There is something about halfway in. Is there anything I can do or is it now a job for a pro?

A picture would help. You can drill it out with a set of left hand drill bits, a right angle drill attachment might be needed bc the ABS pump will probably be in the way.

In the first pic, you can see the empty hole above the belt. (It's the higher one)

In the second pic, you can see the rust colored receiving nut on the opposite side. It has a bolt in it. I think I can remove this nut if I can cut away the stop. I tried to put something in the hole and tap the bolt out with no luck.
If I can remove the nut, do you think I'll be able to remove the bolt with some vise grips?

If you can remove the nut the bolt should come out vice grips. If not, it may been easiest to just drill it out. I'm surprised the alternator can hold the tension without the pivot anchor installed.

Make sure you can get a new bolt and nut before you do anything, even if its from ace hardware or something. After that, I dont see why you cant just take the belt off and remove all other bolts so that the alt. moves freely. Then you may be able to just grab the nut with visegrips and pull the whole thing out.

That may be why the alternator went bad.

My thinking too on finding a suitable replacement bolt at the hardware store.

I had everything else off yesterday before getting stuck on this problem... yesterday I was ready to go to a pro, but after thinking about it, I'm going to try again tomorrow.

Thanks guys

So that's a junkyard alternator you have installed?

12515-0A010 is the part number for that bolt, $4.80 retail price from your Dealer.

Not that I know of, but I've only had the car since 2002.
