Bought my wife this Avalon back in March 2007 with 183890 miles on it for $1750 and the only real work put into it was coolant flush and link replacement and new brakes and rotors and tires.
Always had issues with the remotes till tonight, decided to see what kind of battery they needed and wow, talk about dirty inside. Cleaned out all kinds of gunk around the botton areas. They never would lock or unlock the doors. Pulled off the rubber seal over the circuit board contacts and noticed a grease buildup over the contact area the rubber button makes contact. Wiped off the greasy residue and put them back together and went down try them out. Work like new now. Must have had just enough dirt built up in that grease to stop a proper contact.
Oh yes, we are only 30 miles from rolling it over to 200K.
Next week when she goes to work. We`ll take my 06 Honda Odyssey out this weekend for her 47th birthday.
Good thing she don`t know about this forum. LOL
