Broken air vent director

Hey,

I have a 98 XLS. When I choose the dash vents, bi-directional, or floor vents, nothing happens except a clicking noise from somewhere in the dash. The air is stuck blowing out of the floor and defrost vents. I can select the defrost vents and it seems to blow out of there harder. Where is the air director located? I have no idea where to begin to look for what's broken.

Ok, so I got to ripping apart the dash. I located the piece that appears to be the problem. There's a white control arm behind the instrument panel that appears to be jamming. Nothing appears to be broken, just stuck. Anybody have any experience with this?

its usually foam or some foreign object blocking the blend door. i found a clip on air freshener that fell off the vent it was hooked to. sometimes mice put dog food or nuts in there as well. there is no easy was to get in there though. i would recommend trying to fix this yourself because a shop will want a lot in labor time.
