radio help please

I have a 1997 avalon xl

So heres the story, one night my gf drives the car and suddenly the radio/clock/cig stopped working. So a few days later, i found out a coin was jammed in the cigarette thing. Picked it out, and changed the fuse by the steering wheel. Hoping it would power up the radio again but it did not, only the clock and cigarette lighter worked.

So i took this chance to actually install a pioneer stereo. Had my friend help me cause im not a car guy. Bought a harness that was made for the car, connect the harness wires to the wires that came with the pioneer stereo (color matched it). Plug it in to the car and it still did not power up. Anyone know what gives?

Does the ground wire from the stereo needs to be mounted to a metal bracket? i read it somewhere that it needs to be mounted to metal in order for it work.

this is the stereo i got.
Amazon Amazon

THANKS!

Check under the hood for other fuses that may be blown.
Also, if you are using an adapter harness, the ground connection between the harnesses is eventually connected to the chassis ground anyways. There is no need to mount it to metal unless you are specifically having grounding issues(as a matter of fact, the dash support setup is a pretty crappy ground anyways).

Thanks. I checked most not all of the fuses and they all seem fine. Weird thing is that the "RAD NO 1" fuse was missing? Can someone confirm that the factory radio doesnt need the RAD NO 1 fuse and aftermarket radio needs it?

Did you figure out what the issue was?

I did. I read it somewhere that someone replace the RAD NO 1 fuse. I checked mine and somehow it was missing. I had one extra laying around so i put that fuse in and voila, it worked.
