Oil Pressure Switch Removal

I am trying to remove my oil pressure switch and am having a tough time. Just getting at it is pretty tough. Are you supposed to remove the alternator or any other components? I can barely see and get a finger on the plug that I think is the OPS(according to TIS diagram). I wasn't able to get the clip apart, I could barely get my fingers on it and didn't want to pry it and risk breaking the clip. Any advice or a link to tutorials would be helpful but I haven't found anything here or on TIS. I know you are supposed to use an SST but from doing some research people have been able to use a deep socket.

Also after dropping my pan and doing a run with seafoam I found a small piece of white plastic in my oil pan that came off a clip. I am still getting a flickering light after about 10 mins of driving. I am hoping it could just be the OPS and for $16 I figured replacing it could not be a bad idea.

Does anyone know where the white plastic clip could have came from?

I finally got at it by removing the alternator. I still wasn't able to get the switrch off though. Judging from the replacement sensor a long 7/8" socket should do the trick. Can anyone confirm that?

I am having the same problem - have removed the alternator but cannot get access to measure the unit. What size socket did you use.
