Sound from rear

In an effort to avoid a crash with a guy who run a red light, and then took off as if it was daytona 500, i went over the side pavement, up on a bit off a hill. Now both front and read driver side tires caught a bit of grass between tire and alloy rim wheel, but look kinda ok.

now the sound appears to have started somewhere on the back wheel, seems more like passenger read (it seemed as i went more straight on the uphill but... it was all in a flash) ...

the sounds is something like a whum whgum whum that is noticeable more and more as you speed up, and after 50-60 can't really tell cause of ambient noise....

What could it be from, or what should I check first and how.....?

any help greatly appreciated you guys are great.....

I would have a tire shop check for a bent wheel or a bad tire which may have had a belt let loose. If you have grass between your tire and wheel, your vehicle was skidding sideways in a yaw.

on the positive side, the stock wheels are light as a feather. the less unsprung weight, the better she'll handle... but they took that 'way too far. the stock wheels bend at the slightest excuse.

can't understand how you got grass in the beads. but for sure anything that could cause that would cause those wheels to warp!

Bonzo, it happens because as a vehicle enters a sideways skid (yaw) the tires are gripping the road due to friction, this places stress on the tire bead and opens it up allowing grass and other debris to enter, as the skidding subsides, the bead closes and traps the grass between the tire and wheel.

you could have lost a wheel weight or if you locked the brakes up you also could have flat spotted the tires. glad you avoided the accident.

finally replaced the grassy affected hub wheel side...and sound does not seem to be there, or is very slight, barely , less then ambient noise. I will do the other rear side and maybe get another wheel from the junkyard.....see if that makes a difference.
