michelin destiny harmony

just put 4 of these on the '98 xls to replace worn out tiger paws that were on the car when we bought it. smooth as silk. very quiet. went driving up the mountains today to see the aspens in their glory. caught some snow at the top of hoosier pass (10,500 feet). they seemed to hold traction very well in the wet and the snow, but we don't push it hard. they are "destiny" at discount tire. they are "harmony" elsewhere.

Unfortunately I haven't had good luck with the Michelin Primacy's I got 3 weeks ago. In cabin vibration, steering wheel vibration, took it back twice for balance, now I'm getting them replaced tomorrow.

it would seem to me, after having balancing problems for over a year, that the avvy is quite picky about tires. i, 2, run the harmonies. first driving impression was bigfooted and clumbsy but have adapted to them, since. they are very wide...

smooth as silk. 80,000 mile tires for a great price. theyy've been having a $70 rebate for 4 tires. mine came today. visa card. could not put the money in the bank. have to carry the stupid thing around, using it to buy stuff. oh well.

only other tire i know of that will work on avvys is continental. they were on mine when i got it. they were old as the hills but still performed quite well... and did not shake. toyo, otoh, really sucked.

I think its the actual set of tires I have on, the previous set was Walmart Goodyears which were fine, no balancing issues. Another thing I noticed it the rubber is much harder than the GYs.

yeah - 80,000 mile tires are harder. less traction, too. nothing's free. i feel a decrease in handling, but not a major one. worth it to get rid of that irritating shimmy.

Almost 2 years on a set of Harmonys and still going strong. They got me around when most people couldn't with 16" of snow overnight last winter. Had to pick people up and get them to work when they couldn't make it anywhere. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fixed my problem, 3 of 4 tires were out of balance, my mechanic rebalanced them. He did find one suspect tire and he put that in the right rear(little vibration). Sometime this week I will get that replaced. Can't believe I took it to the tire place TWICE and they couldn't get the balance right.

you should make the tire place do a "road force" on them. that'll tell the tale. i guess these new tire balancers get out of adjustment...
