Gen1 P1705 code 96 AVY

c.e.l. stays on for a few days than goes out for a few days. What could be causing this? Car seems to run great.

too hard to say without pulling the code(s). Have someone with a code reader pull the codes and google them or post them here. Autozone will pull them for you for free.

I think I had this code on mine as well a couple years back and it turns out that it was something called a "Direct Clutch Speed Sensor." My CEL come on one day after a rough upshift, so I checked my codes with my code reader and IIRC, it was P1705.

It was easy to replace, once you removed the airbox to get to the top of the transmission. Unscrew/unplug old one, plug/screw in new one, simple as that. Only took me around 15-20 minutes.

Good luck..

On my '97, you can get to the sensor w/o removing anything. Just need a 10" extension for the socket.

Good luck!
