Wiper Water Reservoir Leak?

Hello, our 96 has sprung a leak in the wiper washer reservoir or maybe a hose. It leaks out somewhere underneath the bottle. Not to be lazy but I don't crawl on the ground to well these days so if anyone can tell me what ussualy fails if at all on these model I would appreciate it. My Haynes repair manual does not mention it at all and looking from above the assembly appears to be inside the body of the car.
Thanks
Bones

You need to take the right front tire off and then the plastic cover in the wheel well off. Mine is cracked about half way up and I havent bothered to fix it. Looks like it's hdpe plastic so it'll need to be plastic welded or replaced. I just fill it untill the bobber floats up and not past that point which seems to be below the leak.

Thank you for the information. Sounds like it won't be so bad. Mine must be cracked down lower as I have to hurry around from the filling to the squirting before its all leaked on to the pavement.

Thanks again.

I had a similar problem, where the hose would jeep disconnecting from the filler reservoir. I did not need to take off the tire, just removed the plastic under the reservoir.

Fix with a different hose clamp, or remove the connection elbow. Sorry I didn't take pics, I didn't think others would have the same problem.

I had a similar problem. Hose kept coming off the reservoir. I finally took canned air (no compressor available) and blew out the washer lines. Must have cleared a plugged line because that fixed the problem.

If it turns out to be a crack and you want to try to repair it, I had good luck with plastic patch made for polyethylene plastic which I used on an air filter housing. I don't recall the brand, but it was a urethane based product I bought at auto parts store. I might give this a try on my Nissan washer reservoir that is leaking.

Not unusual for those reservoirs to crack over time. Probably time for a replacement.

I finaly fixed the water leak.
Pulled front right wheel, removed inner fender (2 zillion bolts) with no problems.
The leak was in a fancy little hose about 2 inches long that went between the reservoir and the pump. Replaced it with a short piece of rubber tubing that the parts store said was to inexpensive to charge for. What a deal!

Anyway, mama is happy to be able to clean her windscreen again.
Thanks to all who contributed.

Glad to hear you got it fixed! And thanks for coming back and posting the solution. It might help out someone else in the future.
