Steering coupling problem

My son has a 1998 Avalon with excessive play in the steering wheel as well as a bind. I looked at it the other night with a light and found that the coupling down at the steering rack had play. I then went on the parts search and it appears there two couplings, one on the intermediate shaft and a lower one. Is this right that there are two or is there only one on the intermediate shaft and you can buy the coupling separate? If there are two are they both known to wear or just the lower due to exposure to the elements?

You might want to private mail toyopartsman. Gary is a parts guy at a dealership and is very helpful for questions like yours.
