magnet came off of abs system during strut removal

Hello, and thanks in advance

I was changing my struts, and a small magnet inside a round plastic half dome attached itself to one of the struts that I had removed. Now my abs light is coming on.

Is or was this part of the sensor? How is it attached to the sensor? Is there a physical wired attachment to the sensor, or did this just break off? I'm considering just gooping it back into position.

Any information appreciated,

Jimmy

The wheel speed sensors do have a small cylindrical magnet in them. From your description, it does sound like that's what it is. The plastic half-dome must've broken off the nose of the sensor. You could try gluing it back in, but I'd guess chances are low it'll work. The magnet goes inside a coil of hair-like wires, so be careful when you stuff it back in that you don't break one or scrap the insulation off. The wires have that thin varnish-like insulation. Also, be sure to get it fully re-inserted. If it's not, it might rub on the tone ring; a gear-looking thingy with teeth that the sensor sees to generate pulses as it rotates.
