avalon suspension upgrades

I would like to stiffen up the ride on my Av but I don't really know too much about it. I've been looking for tower braces/ strut bars, but Ican't find any for and Avalon. What I really need is advice, first of all what could be done to improve an Avalon, what will make the biggest difference, and where can I find it. Price is definately a concern, but not my primary one. also, if anyone knows where to get a sway bay or something similar for an avalon please let me know (or something else that will fir the Avalon) thanks

I have a '95 Avalon XLS, I upgraded to tokico shocks and intrax lowering springs...I suggest trying to buy everything on the internet and find somewhere with free shipping. Go to www.intraxsuspension.com to read about the springs they list for $309 for the set, but can be found slightly cheaper. The shocks can be found on ebay regularly, but shop around, there are deals to be found if you do the research. I love the upgrade, lowered the car about 2" and it handles more like a car now and not like a land yacht...Installation is fairly easy I did it all myself in a few hours, I suggest replacing the strut mounts(at least in the front), dust boot etc while your under there because it makes a difference, I didn't at first and it handles much better with all new parts...I've had them on for a year now and they are awesome! As for the tower bar I used a 92-96 V6 camry one and it works great, I just bought a cheap one on ebay, but there are lots of options. I also have an AEM short ram intake for 94-95 V6 camrys that fits perfect and did bring noticeable power, if you look on ebay there is a seller 24ibuy that regularly sells them for just over $100...most camry parts will fit the avalon, you just have to cross reference the oem part #s to check use a site like www.toyotapartsdealer.com to check. Feel free to post any questions, or send me a private message.

Hello,

I'm new to ToyotaNation and was also wanting to upgrade my suspension on my Avy! I have a 97 XLS and want to upgrade the shocks/struts as well as my springs. So far, the only springs I have been able to find are Intrax. I don't know how good those springs are, but from what I have heard, most people are not really happy with them. Are there any other manufacturers that make springs for the Avalon?? Also, would a AEM intake for a V6 Camry work for a V6 Avalon?? Please help.....want to start upgrading my Avalon's suspension, this way, went I get my chrome wheels, they will look just right!!

Thanks,

D

Let me know how they are.

This guy from work bought a set of dropzones for his Ford Focus and he had to send them back. He really did not like them much, but they may work better for the Avy.

ppl who buy springs and say they dont like them are stupid...you need to get matching shocks for an ideal ride. there are a LOAD of spring potions from TRD to elbeich(sp) to cheaper options such as intrax and dropzone... let em bed in for a week or so b4 you comment. a few have said dropzones sag a bit after a while.. but heck...that just means youll be lower

get springs+shocks at the same time if you want a decent ride... pleny of shock options..

get a rear sway bar if you want to reduce/ minimise understeer. note that a RSB will stiffen up the rear end ride quality wise. most camry springs optiosn have soft rears... get a new rsb to firm it up

a fornt strut tower brace will help improve steering feedback during harder turns.

is you get just the shocks and not the springs what would that be like. I'm not a fan of dropping the car. because in chicago we have crap loads of pot holes and what not. I also dont wanna run into camber problems. But i do want more control in the car. how would stock springs and aftermarket shocks feel.
