Question 95 Avalon CD player problem

The CD player in my 95 Avalon seems not to work...put CDs in the magazine, push it in, it makes whirring grinding noises for a while, pushes magazine in and out, sometimes even makes CD-whirling noises and shows the Load message, then the audio switches to the radio. I've tried with CDs face up and face down in the magazine (all I could think of) and neither works. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem in my 95 Camry. I removed the radio/cd unit. There are some swithes inside that I cleaned with contact cleaner. Problem solved. Sorry I don't have pictures or detailed info. Removal takes some time and effort. Hope this helps somewhat.

Unhappy CD player problem for me too

Thought it was only me, but guess not. My CD player can play burn CDs but it takes like 4days to load a song. I was suggested to clean the lens but I donno how, so I just got a MP3 player and a car tape instead.
