Replacing Head Unit: NEED HELP

This is my first post here on toyota nation, and ive already got a problem. My mom has a 1997 Toyota Avalon XL with the factory cassette/radio and what looks like 6 speakers (speaker and tweeter in front doors, speaker in doors in rear). My sisters honda recently quit and i took the cd player out of it (pioneer deh-2300) today intending to put it in my moms avalon. Well, i started researching this stuff and I have a few questions: 1. Does the Avalon have an amp? Ive been reading on here about the factory amp behind the glovebox. 2. Do I have to bypass it somehow? Ive already got a wiring harness from circuit city. 3. How do you get the dash apart to take out the headunit? Just pry it? Sorry about the stupid questions, i did search but couldnt find what i wanted. im a member at jeepforum.com and i understand these types of questions get old, but i really need to know if this is difficult to do and how to do it. this will be the first time ive installed an aftermarket cd player as well. thanks in advance.

Oh yea, where could i find a passenger side mirror for the 97 avalon? My sister had a run in with a mailbox while driving the avalon later in the day after her car quit .

any info on what harness to get? the one i got from circuit city doesnt match up to ANYTHING. I read on this forum that theres one for the cars with optional stereos, do i need that harness? on a positive note, i got the headunit out of the avalon without breaking anything or losing any screws!

i have a 6+ year old pioneer head unit in my car... and even now units under $600 (AUD) are still crappier then mine... top of the line headunits stay top of the line for a LONG time

Have you tried Crutchfield? They can walk you through just about anything - at least that's been my experience!
