TRD Supercharger for 97 Toyota Avalon XLS

Hello All,

I have a 97 Avalon XLS. I don't know what the engine code is for my model, but I have seen some others hook up some TRD superchargers to their Avalons, but I haven't been able to find one on the web for the Avalon. I see them for the Tacoma's and I think it was the Landcruiser, but no Avalon's. Can someone help me out with this one! I have already done a global search in this site and none tell me which TRD Supercharger is for the Avalon. Please, someone help??

Also, what kind of results does the supercharger add - HP/Torque.

Thanks,

D

your engine code is 1mz-fe, the trd supercharger for the camry (which also has the 1mz-fe motor) will work. the supercharger doesnt add enough hp for how much it costs in my opinion..

nothing else that you can bolt on in a few hours is gonna give you 60hp and NOT VOID ya warranty

you can make similar gains with a custom turbo set up, but that would take lots and lots and lots of hours overall -- and then youll still be short on torque... and have MUCH HIGHER chance of it failing.

Terrastrife,

In your opinion, is it worth putting in the TRD s/c?? Thanks to both of you for your help with this!

^It depends. I think some ppl have got one off ebay pretty cheap like 1000-1500 bucks.

Isn't reg/dealer price like 3000-4000?

It's a pretty quick gain of power.

Your 2 options would be this and as he said, turbo. Turbo is easier to add hp because you can run higher boost and get more power. But the problem is, if you run too much boost w/o upgraded internals, you run the risk of blowing your engine.

S/c is a little harder to get more power after but it is safer, meaning you aren't as likely to blow your motor, but it's still possible.

theyre both just as dagerous going for high boost, but theres no custom work for the trd blower, it all just works.. whereas the only other way to make 60hp would be nitruous (easy but not ideal), turbo (already mentioned) or serious headwork and new cams (just going to cost as much and wont be as drivable)

so.. you can spend $100 on an air filter and make it sound faster but still go teh same... $1000 on big wheels which will slow you down more then the stockies, or save up and actually get something that makes decent power...

If I did purchase a supercharger, how hard would it be to hook it up?? Also, I tried finding some performance pistons/piston rings, cam gears for the 1MZ-FE engine, but could not find any. I'm assuming that custom ones would have to be made if you wanted to upgrade some of your engine internals before putting on the supercharger?? Thanks for any help!!
