Avalon 1997 braking vibration

I just resently bought a 1997 Avalon. The brakes work fine until I have to brake at 70+, then I get a vibration in the front wheels. The friend I bought the car from replaced the rotors but I don't know if quality could still cause problems or if the rotors need to be turned again. My friend states that this was a ongoing problem for him. Any suggestions. Rotors, abs system?

check the shingles and pads? If rotors are slightly wrapped it may do that.

Prolly front rotors slightly warped. Mine shaked real bad, but that was b/c the back left caliper was hung up. When you've driven it hard (or intown) feel the wheels and if one feels significantly hotter (or smells bad) you prolly have a hung up caliper. Front calipers are cheap ($45) backs are expensive ($100).

check the guide pin sleeves too, i had the shimmy, found one of the sleeves broke apart and made the caliper clamp up at an angle.

Warped rotors will cause that shimmy at speed, but what warped brand new rotors? If the guy replaced the rotors, did overtorquing cause the original problem? If they are alloy wheels calling for 76 ft-lbs and junior with the air gun has it set for 100....
If that is not the issue, then we look further into the suspension.

Talking Easy Fix

If your friend put cheap rotors on the first time then yes they are probably warped...i would tell u 99% your front rotors are warped...buy genuine toyota rotors u will have no problems. I bought garbage 20 dollar rotors from strauss discount auto and they warped within hours of installing them, bough genuine toyota ones no problems! on the highway the steering wheel would shake when i applied the brakes, which is basically the problem u have i see. SO BASICALLY GO OUT AND GET TOYOTA ROTORS AND PADS AND U WILL HAVE NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH THAT

I have the same problem with my 96 and i haven't gotten to it yet but my mechanic says that it might be the dirt behind the rotors. I also replaced the rotors about a year ago and it went away for couple weeks but now its back, so you might want to try it, got nothing to loose anyways.
