Don't be crazy, there is only one compressor. Hate to be a smart ass but are the vents open? Does the heat come all the vents?

What year's your avalon? If it's the 2005, have you checked the temperature climate control? If there's still problems, get it checked out. A vent might not be opened all the way or there's a hole.

It's an 01 XLS, I have dual climate control and yes all vents are open. The 2 driver side vents only pushing cool or often just regular air (no ac). I've tried all settings, and yes heat does come out the same for all vents. I'll just bring it in. I'm also noticing my tempt going 3/4 way up on hot days.

Sounds like the door actuator for the passenger side climate control isnt working. Ive seen that problem on just about every car other than toyota so far. Let us know what they find.

what does the door actuator have to do with the a/c especially when it's on the passenger side and the problem is the driver side.

Temperature readings on the new cars are controlled by an infrared sensor. Could be that one sensor is defective. Also, if the Avalon is like some of my previous cars the AC/Heater has a mixing box in the dash with a door/damper going to each side of the car. These doors are usually vacuum controlled or sometimes electric. It might be that one side has a vacuum leak or a bad motor and is stuck.
