P0441 refers to "improper purge flow." It is not uncommon to see it in conjunction w/P0446. but before you get into how to fix it, check this link out. I have a 96 camry that had P0441 and, after calling toyota customer service, was able to get them to pay the bill ($750.00 to replace a duty valve and charcoal cannister). see if your car is covered.

i belive toyota covers the evap parts for 8years or 80000miles, usually you will see p0440 p0441 and p0446 together but before anything replace your gas cap and besure to tighten it down when you gas up the vehicle, 90% of the time with those codes either a loose gas cap of bad gas cap gasket is the problem

Thumbs down P0446 code in an Avalon

I have a 1999 Avalon and the P0446 code has been reoccurring for the past year. Once I drove it up in to the mountains (I'm at sea level usually) and the code reset itself and stayed off for about a month. Since then I have been resetting it myself but it has been returning quicker each time. I'm not sure if the VSV is in the engine compartment or at the gas tank - any help would be appreciated.
If it is the charcoal cannister can it be blown out with compressed air?
thanks,
Drew

P0466. Might be a canister leak, defective VSV valve or hoses. Just guessing these parts may be in the engine compartment area between the passenger’s side shock tower and firewall.
