98 Avalon License plate light

Needless to say I'm new at this.
I tried replacing the License plate light in my '98 Avalon. I can't figure out how to remove it. Is there a some sort of a diagram or maybe someone can explain how to do it?

Also can someone point me to a site or two where I can buy used parts for this car?

Thanks.

lift up the trunk lid, peel back the carpet area to access the lights, they should just twist to the sides. Take them off and get new ones....168 or 194 maybe? They should say it on the bulb, if unsure take it with you to the auto store.

Any heads up on this? I lifted up the carpet and I see the plug & the bulb (inside the clear box). But i'm not able to remove them.

It has been a while, but I think following the instructions below helped me and I got the bulb replaced.

Thumbs up

Thanks for replying! I'm glad to hear that it's something maybe I can do without going to the dealer or buying lots of different tools. I'm going to try again in the AM.

Thanks again! I'll letcha know how I make out.

Wow, I noticed the same thing the other day. It is a pain in the ass to get back in there. I'm having the mechanic do it, I couldn't even take it out.
