Question Headlight bulb modification

My dad said that hi headlights seemed to be getting dimme and asked me if I would repace them. When I was looking for the type of bulb I found that his 2001 Avalon used the same bulbs that my 92 camry does 9006 for lows and 9005 for the highbeams.

I was wondering if the Bulb mod (where you put 9005s in the low beams) works on the Avalon too?

because then I would just put 4 9005s in the headlights.

the bulb modification doesn't have anything to do with the housing or the headlight. all 9005 bulbs look the same so irregardless of what car you use them on, the hole for them is the same everywhere. same goes for 9006 bulbs.
the 9005 mod will work on any car because the opening for the 9006 bulb is the same. don't worry about it, it will all work out nicely.

^ eh....not exactly. the housing is the same but its where they lock up is different. Also the type of bulb is different. Then doing the mod you notice that you'll have to cut or shave off some of the trim peices to make them fit into the 9006 socket. Also the diff between the bulbs is that a 9006 has a painted tip to hold back heat and glare. The 9005 is clear without painted tip, which produces the 10 extra watts.

In any case, yeah, you can put (4) 9005 in your headlight housing. Don't worry about the extra 10wattage, it ain't going to melt your housing and you can definitly tell the difference.

I did this to my 96 avalon before I went HID.

Yeah I alredy did this to my 92 camry.
the reason I asked about it was because my camry has rings that screw on behind the bulb wheras the Avalon has a twist in design.

Thanks for the answers
