re: installing aftermarket amp

So, my install of an aftermarket head unit failed terribly, so now I'm searching other avenues to 1) integrate my IPOD into my factory system (i'm willing to swap out my head unit only if I know I won't lose my data screen), 2) get cleaner sound from my speakers. If I choose to install an aftermarket amp, will that void my warranty? I was thinking about re-creating the JBL synthesis system minus the two speakers on the rear shelf by adding an aftermarket amp and free-air sub in the rear shelf. Any thoughts?

For the IPOD, look into "DICE". Do a google search and there is also a post on here somewhere.
