double din stereo in 03 xl

Hi Guys.... Im looking to install a new navigation system in my avalon. I have a 03 XL. I am really interested in Pioneers AVIC-Z1. The deck is a double din deck. When I check crutchfield fitment guide it doesnt show any double din sized radio that fit... however, I have found that their guide isnt always correct. Has anyone installed a double din size deck in their avalon before? If so do you happen to have any pics of what it might look like.

I just install the Eclipse 7000 nav with rear view camera in my '04 Avalon XLS. It fitted very nicely in a single din kit for the Avalon.

The Eclipse 7000 is a single din and not a double din.
I'm also thinking about updating the stereo to a double din.
Anyone has don it or know if a double din will fit on a 03 Avalon?

ive found that you can fit a double din radio in the avalon. The only issue is noone makes a aftermarket install dash kit thats double din.... and the avalon has that weird shaped radio. Simple solution.... the single din dash kit has a pocket in bottom. I couldnt find one with the removable pocket.... So what i did was simply get the dremmel out and cut it out. It works perfect. If your gonna go - go big!

and modify it to fit the double din stereo.

They actually do make a double din kit, it is the Metra 95-8211. See the instruction manual here:

It must be very new because none of the stores I called knew about this one. I happen to find it on Ebay for $18 including shipping.
