Avalon Sirius FM Modulator Problem

Just had a big box electronic store install a Starmate 4 in my 2003 Avalon w/
the JBL sound system. They used a FM modulator and the Sirius is fine but I can barely get normal AM/FM. They now claim I need a Auxiliary Input Adapter because the "Avalon probably has an amplified antenna that will not work with the modulator". I am not sure if they are accurate or maybe installed it wrong to begin with. Help!

Does the interference go away when you turn off the Sirius system and modulator?

Avalon Sirius FM Modulator Problem

Unfortunately turning off Sirius does not help. I even undocked it to be sure. The AM/FM signal just seems weak - rather than noise comning in from an external source. Any other ideas or background on the Auxiliary Input Adapter? Thanks.

It sounds like the FM modulator in your car is always on and broadcasting. They should be installed so they turn off along with whatever device provides the audio. If they are always on you'll get permanent interference with the normal reception of other signals.

On another note, the input adapters provide 1000% better sound as you won't lose any fidelity through the radio transmission.
