2001 Avalon brake noise.

I have a 01 avalon XLS , whenever I press on the brake I hear noise ,like wind gushing out. If I release the brake the noise goes away. The brake works fine. I am just wondering what is causing the gushing wind and if it could affect my brake..

Thanks in advance for any help..

Check the power brake booster system it run off engine vacuum, this may be what you are hearing. Open the hood with engine on and press on the brake.

The brake pad is off the market and the noise is coming from the front, right near the brake pedal. As soon as I barely press the brake pedal the noise starts.

Thanks very much for all the comments...

Just curious, could the brake fluid cause this problem? The brake fluid was never changed since the car was bought. The car has 60k on it.

Thanks

If the noise is at the pad and they are aftermarkets, pull the pads and see if they put back all the sound silencing shims and used a "disc quiet" on the backs of them!
