Question Side door gards

I have a 2003 Avalon and would like to remove the side door gards..Do the outside door guard bumps just pull off or are they screwed on? If I pull them off, what are the chances that where are, they were painted the cars natural color? And will their be holes in their place?

Does anyone knows... thanks!

They're held on by adhesive tape. There are alignment holes in the doors for nibs on the molding. You need a heat gun and they suggest piano wire to cut the adhesive tape. They used to suggest a taped scrapper but they probably gouged some paint.
