audio system upgrade

hi, trynna figure out a way to upgrade the stereo system in the conquest to become similar to the premium sound system by installing an amp. there are a couple of oem toyota amps floating around on ebay, what is the power output on those? prefer to use the oem amp bcoz it appears to just bolt in. the amp bracket is located behind the glovebox compartment. where would i source power for an amp? is there an auxiliary power plug floating around under the dash, or does the amp share the same power circuit with the radio? im guessing i need a wiring harness that connects the bak of the stereo to the amp and another to replace the old wiring harness running to all the speakers bcoz there are no wires for a sub coming out of the speaker connector on the back of the radio? going to install an aftermarket oem-like sub that closely matches the factory 1. going for an original appearance, not looking 2 perform any major mods. any advice would be much appreciated!
cheers

contact crutchfield.com....

On my 00 avalon (US) the amp is 200w and it's under the passenger seat. I just replaced my head unit with an HD radio, and used a crutchfield harness to maintain my 7 speaker, 200w factory amp setup.

If you purchase products from them, they provide instructions and tech support included in the purchase price.

this model of avalon did not come with a 7 speaker set-up = no subwoofer, it has the stock 4 speakers. knocked out the metal plate covering subwoofer hole on the base of the parcel shelf and dropped an 8" sub in the hole. the sub appeared to have enough clearance for excursion between the parcel shelf and the cover but when the subwoofer is active, it vibrates the sh!t outta the cover. how is the factory sub mounted in the 7 speaker model, and what is the parcel shelf cover like? thinking of getting a parcel shelf from the wreckers, cutting out a 8" hole and mounting a speaker grille ontop, but if the 7 speaker model's parcel shelf already incorporates a sub grille ill try chase one of those from somewhere.....

sounds like you have the base Avalon model. If I'm correct, only the XLE comes with the 7 speakers JBL sound system as standard. But all model comes with subwoofers, little itty bitty ones in the two rear doors, not much to work with.

got the avalon conquest '00, think its different 2 the american model... 2 front speakers in the doors 5.25" treble/midrange with plastic cones, 2 rear speakers on the parcel shelf 5.25" midbass drivers with woven fibre cones and reinforced surrounds. went 2 the local toyota store and got the part number for a factory subwoofer bracket and grille which apparently fits over the top of the high rise brake light.
