Fuse 49 (interior lights) keeps blowing

I purchased a 2002 Avalon XL in December and replaced the blown fuse #49 at that time. Everything worked great until last week when the fuse blew out again. Have tried to replace the 7.5 amp fuse - but now it blows as soon as I put a new fuse in. Owners manual says this fuse handles the interior dome light, vanity lights, trunk light, and the automatic headlight switch (?). Anyone have a similar problem? Any suggestions? Help.

something is probably shorting it out.. check your bulb connections (door panel light, map light, dome, read reading lamps). i had the same fuse blow out i accidently tipped the dome light connection with my screwdriver. it blew out twice after that, i thought i totally screwed it up but then it stopped blowing out by itself.

First thing I would do is open the trunk and look and see where the wiring harness comes from the car body to the deck lid. It runs right along side the trunk hindge. Sometimes opening and closing the lid the wires break in the harness.
