Window trouble
I just took my 2002 in for regular maintenance, and one of the problems I had was odd noises from the motor/drive wheels that raise and lower my driver's side window, as well as ugly grayish, grimy vertical streaks being put on the exterior window surface. The cost estimate to repair the window was $190, which I put off to a later date. Till then, the service guy said I could take an ammonia-based window cleaner and coat the exterior window with it and then repeatedly roll it up and down, which supposedly would breath new life into the mechanism. Well, on the one hand I have tinted windows that would delaminate if exposed to high concentrations of ammonia vapor, and also I'm dubious about his suggested short-term fix. Any experiences out there or any ideas from other Avalon owners who've encountered a similar problem with their windows? Any input would be welcome.
