2002 Avalon Transmission problem

Hi,

I am new to this forum and not real sure how to navigate through it yet, but I do have a question regarding the transmission in my 2002 Avalon.
Just recently the transmission starting acting up in reverse, it almost feelings like the parking brake is on when backing up. I have to give it a little extra gas to get it moving (could be slipping, but really feels more like the brake is on).

Anyone have Any ideas on what it could be?

The car has 90k miles and has been well taken care of with oil changes every 3k miles and not driven hard, although I have never had the transmission fluid replaced.

Thanks,

Mark

If 90K on the fluid suggest changing it. Might be the parking brake is binding up.

Thank you for the advice.
What is the best way to determine if the parking brake is binding?

my car does the same thing. I park on a slight incline on my driveway and backing up it seems to take a bit more juice if the car has been sitting. I would agree with checking the brakes. if the calipers are seizing(ed) the wheels would be getting much hotter than normal. walk around the car after you drive it for a bit and see if any of the wheels are hotter than the others. the fronts should always be hotter than the rear.
