squeal

My car started to squeal when driving. I know it's from the tires. As soon as I touch the brakes it stops. It will start again as I remove the brake pressure. The pads were replaced about 12 months ago

I'm guessing this is your 2000?
Reading past posts I see you have had some problems.
When you replaced the pads did you replace or rebuild the calipers?
If not and you have a seized caliper, your new pads could be worn out again.

thanks Shortrun. I didn't replace the calipers. How do you "rebuild" them. I added grease to the pin. It was my first attempt at the avalon brakes.

I guess what I was trying to say is re checking the brake pads would be my first step.
If you do have a caliper problem, the normal is to replace them. I'm not experience enough to direct someone else to do this. Sorry.

OK, pulled apart rear passenger caliper and the slider pin was stuck. Cleaned and re-greased. Seems to run much better. It is quiet now and "rolls" better. I'm thinking it has been stuck for awhile but never made a noise.
