Canada How to shut off A/C ????

Hi guys, I just got my 04 avalon xls days ago.

Here is my problem. I set the Air to be inside circulate. then set fan speed to be min. And I make sure the A/C light is off.

However, I can still feel that the A/C is working 'cause the air coming out is cooler than the outside.

But all I need is just plain fan.... Anybody have idea what's going on?

Does my avalon A/C have a problem or it's just the way its A/C is supposed to be working??

First, had you been running the A/C? The is residual pressure in the system and it will cool the air for a few minutes after turning it off, if the CC is calling for a cooler temp than the cabin air.
Second, what is the outside temp? Again, my 2000, on AUTO, will change to outside air if needed to cool cabin air.
Third, assuming you '04 has a tach, you should be able to see a flucuation in the RPM, when idling the engine in neutral, and toggling the A/C button. You should also be able to have someone to toggle the A/C button while you watch the A/C compressor under the hood. You should be able to see the clutch engage and disengage. If not, then you might want to find a friend with a scangauge to check for error codes.
Lastly, since I assume you are beyond warranty, have it checked by a reputable auto service provider.
Then, maybe you'll get a more helpful post from someone else here @ TN.

Good Luck.

Dave

As stated above, the AUTO feature may be doing that, but my '00 Avalon lights the AC button in that case.

Also, if the the front Defrost feature is on, I've noticed that the AC compressor is turned on but the AC button is not lit.

Same here! Also, on our 2000 the front defroster changes the air-flow. I don't remember which way and my wife has the car or I'd check, but When CC is on Auto and turning on the front defroster I remember noticing that the air-flow indicator on the console changed.
