Unhappy '04 Avalon cold start problem

hi all,

my 2004 3.0L V6 avalon seems to have problems when starting, especially cold starting (i live in Melbourne, Australia). It comes on and off irregularly. Most days it seems like as if there is no choke whereas sometimes, out of dumb luck, it starts normally.

does anyone else have similar problems, and does anyone know how to fix this?

much appreciated,
rex

edit: hold on, i just found a similar thread. ill check the throttle butterfly, throttle body fins, AIC and coolant temp sensor before i get back

(just to let you all know, although that this isnt exactly my car, its my dad's, but i have to fix it so it becomes my problem, so there was a little loss of info from the first thread, which ive fixed up) - after my dad decided to tell me that the car DOES have the same problem even when hot, i got pretty frustrated that i had already posted my question.

wheres the etc? (if it its connected to the throttle body, more than likely, ive checked and cleaned it with some low pressure compressed air.)

we but i have cleaned the aic, with no improvements.

but sorry for the little misunderstading...maybe this extra bit of info might help?
