2003 XLS Information Center Resetting Itself

I have a 2003 XLS and the time & date information center displays incorrect dates and times. We notice this when we start the car and the display is incorrect either for the date and or time.

The original battery is still in thew car, it says it is a 84 month battery. It is a Toyota brand battery BTW. No problem starting, so I don't think its the battery leaking down.

Anyone else have this problem?

Check your cables

I'd start with a quick check your battery terminal cables and the end of the battery ground where it connects to the body and engine. The circut may be complete to the engine but not the body, and the current may be taking a different route to the body once the engine is started. I had one that was almost completely eroded at the body ground, but the car still started and ran well.

Well the battery was the culprit. It finally died today.

$75 later and a brand new 84 month Advance Auto Titanium 700 cca battery and the engine spins like a mad man at start up. The interior lights are much brighter too, no more flickering on the overhead lights either.

The original battery lasted almost 6 years.
